Is Perfume the same as Deodorant?



No, they are not. Despite having fragrance as a commonality, both have different use cases - Perfume is an aspirational, lifestyle product which has, as its core functionality, to entice one of our five senses, the olfactory sense. It’s purely luxury product that denotes an elite standard of grooming and by extension, a higher standard of living. Deodorants contain fragrances, they but they are not as aspirational as perfumes. The main functionality of Deodorants it to limit or kill the growth of bacteria growth that are prevalent in one’s private parts like underarms even the fragrance contained in it makes you smell better. Which lasts longer, Perfumes or Deodorants?

Long lasting depends on the quantity and quality of fragrance contained in the product. Deodorants contain 4 to 6% fragrance oil whereas Perfumes contain anywhere between 15% to 25% fragrance oils. Naturally, perfumes last longer. Many deodorants also compromise on the bouquet of fragrance as well as quality, which leads to a situation where they are available cheaper but don’t last as much as perfumed deodorants (deodorants containing same quality and bouquet of fragrance as perfumes)

Can I layer deodorants and perfume together?

Yes, most certainly. In fact, they become a good technique to make the fragrance last longer. Here, of course, the important thing is that both have the same bouquet of fragrance. If they don’t then the efforts will be negated as both fragrances will mix with each other.
